Midsummer 2026 Update
Fifty-five years ago, from August 6–8, 1971, Queensborough found itself at the heart of an unforgettable moment in local history. The Rock Acres Peace Festival, headlined by The Stampeders, drew thousands of hippies, music lovers, and free spirits from around the world, for three days of music, friendship, and quite a bit of chaos.
For local residents, it was a weekend unlike any other. Parents watched the crowds with concern and kept their children close. Temperatures soared to 90°F bringing hordes of enthusiatic and half-dressed young people to the village, to cool off in the Millpond and buy Cokes in the general store. It was a weekend to remember! Community Supper hosted by St. Mary

Location: Queensborough Community Centre at 1853 Queensborough Rd.
St. Mary of Egypt Refuge on Barry Road is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. To thank the community, they are preparing a delicious home-grown supper, free of charge, to be served at the Queensborough Community Centre.
Two kinds of pasta, fresh bread and their own farm-grown vegetables, plus dessert. All are welcome!

Concert at the Ark
Thursday, September 3 at 6 p.m.

Somewhere between a concert and one of The Ark’s song semi-circles, one of Canada’s premiere roots guitarists and songwriters—David Essig—will be visiting from his home on the West coast, to perform for us. With numerous solo recordings, countless production credits, and a couple of full length books, David is a consummate artist and Canadian treasure. Often seen in concert in larger venues, this will be a rare opportunity to experience the man and his work in an intimate environment.
Joining David and Noah will be Ed Michael Roth, a virtuoso on keys and accordion. Ed has made a career as a writer of music for TV and advertising, as well as in concert and on record, beginning his career in the latter capacity at Daniel and Bob Lanois’s studio when it was still in their mom’s home.
