Queensborough Events - October Update

Queensborough history: A piece from the past
Back in 1904, the Queensborough railway station was built as a stop along the Bay of Quinte Railway (BQR) branch line, moving goods between Deseronto and Bannockburn, and on to the Central Ontario Railway. The railway station included a passenger waiting room, a ticket office and baggage room, plus living quarters for the station master.
Rail service in Queensborough was short-lived. In 1935, the line from Tweed to Bannockburn was abandoned, and our station was shuttered. The loss of our rail station left a lasting effect on local business.
The building that served as the railway station is now a private home; a plaque on Bosley Road tells the history of the site.
